FMCSA Opens Training Provider Registry Registration

Early registration is now open for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Training Provider Registry (TPR). Training providers must register with FMCSA via the TPR to be included on the public list of providers when it goes live later this year.

Under the entry-level driver training (ELDT) final rule, which takes effect February 7, 2022, only training providers on the TPR will be eligible to train drivers seeking to earn a commercial driver's license (CDL). Training providers must also register to electronically submit a driver’s certification of successful completion of training, as required by the ELDT regulations.

The ELDT regulations are intended to enhance the safety of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) operations on our nation’s highways by establishing new minimum training requirements for individuals who want to obtain a CDL; upgrade a CDL; or obtain a passenger (P), school bus (S) or hazardous materials (H) endorsement. The Registry will connect entry-level drivers with training providers who can equip them with the knowledge to safely operate CMVs for which a commercial learner’s permit (CLP) or CDL is required. Once operational, the TPR will retain a record of which CDL applicants have completed the new training and certification process outlined in the ELDT regulations.

When registering for the TPR, training providers must self-certify that they meet the requirements in 49 CFR 380.703. Learn more about the training provider requirements and get started with registration on the TPR website.
